Running a business on top of all of your other responsibilities can be a big challenge. There are a ton of different ways to get things done quickly, but one of my favorite ways to get things done is batching content!
For the uninitiated content is the word used to describe anything that advertises your business from your blogs to your social media posts to your videos and beyond. Batching content is the meal planning of the business world. Much like meal planning you set things up in advance to be used as you need them.
Here’s how it works. Set up a specific time period that you want your content to be used in. Can be a week, a month, a quarter, even a year. One of the common time periods is monthly, but you can choose any time period that works for you. Plan out your calendar with the topic of the content, type of content and when it goes out to your audience, and where. For example, a how-to graphic is posted to Facebook each week on Thursdays.
There are a lot of calendars and planners for this online, if you feel that would help you get organized you can get a printable or digital content planner that works for you. However, you can also just use your regular calendar book or phone calendar too.
Then set aside a day to get everything written, recorded, and ready to load. Now you have all of your emails, blogs, videos, social media posts, and anything you share ready to go for the entire time period you selected. Now you can quickly share your content with very little effort on your end because the time-consuming part of creating it is all done!
It’s an easy way to get a lot of work done at once and that’s what makes it my favorite shortcut for business!
